Description
History is really just the story of of ordinary people accomplished extraordinary things in trying circumstances. From storming the beaches at Normandy to setting foot on the moon, ordinary people became great when they rose to meet circumstances beyond their control.
Directions
Your task is to create a digital anthology of at least 4 primary sources describing one such event of national importance on an original website by December 3:00 PM, December 17. Select 4 primary sources describing your event (these could include speeches, press conferences, documents, political cartoons, videos, or conversations) and write a 100-word headnote for each source that introduces the document and poses one or two key questions for readers to consider. Make sure to display each document on your site.
Remember that a primary source is something from the contemporary time period. I do not want articles written by historians years after the fact. Please note that you may select only documents that were not assigned for reading during the course. Assigned readings may not be included in your digital anthology.
Then, write a 400-word essay to appear at the front of your digital anthology website site arguing for how the documents you have assembled provide an original analysis of your topic. Your essay should not focus on your topic but rather focus on how your sources describe or reflect your topic. How do your sources contribute to our understanding of your topic?
While the topics and word counts differ, your results should compare favorably to these previously completed digital anthologies.

How
I have provided a free Weebly website for you to work on. While Weebly has pro-level features available for a fee, it offers robust tools that are entirely free. We find Weebly to be the most user-friendly site creation platform, requiring only basic internet proficiency to get started. (For example, if you know how to customize the appearance of your Facebook profile or make a decent powerPoint, then you will be able to use the tools on Weebly.)
As you work, make sure not to let digital bells and whistles distract from your analysis. Use these tools boldly and creatively, but always keep the history front and center.
Use the link below to find directions on how to use Weebly or watch the tutorial. I will provide log-in information in class.
